So I just got a guitar used and I want to swap out the weak stock humbuckers I have. What would be my best bet for metal tones. I have an EMG 81/85 set in my other guitar, and love the sound, but those babies are expensive, and I'm on a budget. So my first questions is what pickup I should look at. Are Dimarzio super distrotions good?
Also, I have no problem buy just one new pup for now, as I primarily only use the bridge anyway.

Second question - Is installing new pups a super difficult process if I have some very light soldering experience?

Thanks

What amp do you have?

Changing pickups is easy as hell.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

Well unfortunately, I only have a solid state cube 60, so I know I wont be getting the most out of any great pickups, and especially not out of my EMGs, but I still need better pickups, because these babies are weak.

Well I just ordered a seymour duncan distortion for the bridge. Hope that was a smart move.
