no you should not, that would not be a upgrade. The only much of a way to upgrade from the micro cube would to look at tube combos

I apologise for the flaming you are about to receive from a great deal of people.
I'll simply say no, the MG may look all fancy with its effects and the Marshall logo but it really sounds terrible - worse than the cube - and is WAY over-priced for what it is.
What is your genre?
What is you budget?
What is your other gear?

most people don't like the amp. i own it, it's ok i dont really like overdrive. you can get better for the cash.

A Marshall MG might be an upgrade in size or whatever, but there's many better amps out there that cost about the same. Shop around a little more. I know there is something better out there. How much are you looking to spend, anyway? What do you need in an amp?

You may need this.

Anyways, no. The MG isn't an upgrade for ANYTHING!
Maybe it's an upgrade to no amp at all, or maybe the cheapest budget beginner pack amps.

If you bought that amp then the word 'upgrade' wouldn't be an accurate potrayal.

Please do not buy that amp.

Can we just make a sticky and start warning people who post threads like this?

No, it's not a good amp. Use of the search feature would reveal no fewer than 476 threads attesting to that fact.
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.

I would just say get a bigger cube if you must upgrade. If you have around $450 go for a Palomino and a distortion pedal.

No, they won't read the stickies.
And the mods will have to warn people ALOT, and it's just too much work for the mods.

In the 200 dollar range, there's the epi VJ and blackheart little giant.
In the 200-400 dollar range, there's used peavey classic 30's and peavey valvekings (there's more also, look used if you can)
And for more, that really isn't too much of a "budget tube amp"
But, those amps are good starting points for your budget.

I love my Fender Blues Jr. You'll need a distortion pedal to play anything heavier than blues, but if you like clean tones, it's perfect. The best thing you can do, though, is look used. Does it matter if it's got a few scratches or whatever if it works perfectly? It's not like people will see the amp and say "your amp is ugly" because they'll most likely say "your amp sounds awesome/like crap" depending on what you've got. Look used. You might be able to find some amazing deals out there...

Marshal MG isnt an upgrade from ANYTHING

Keep the cube, or get a cube30 or something, Why do you want to upgrade anyway? what style of music do you play?

Yes, but when people say 'Marshalls are good' they generally tend to exclude the MG series, as a rule of thumb

Remember, MG most likely stands for Money-Grabber or Marshall's Gimmick.

it's already there. other than make people sign a disclaimer that they won't make an MG thread when they sign up, there's not much else we can do.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.
