Hey all, so I'm trying to play this:

and I guess the only way I can play it is by putting my index finger on the 7th fret on ALL notes, right--afterwards, putting the rest of my fingers in the correct places?

I tried this and it obviously sounds terrible because half the strings sound nice, but when my index finger has the crease, the rest of the strings vibrate off of my finger, or they sound muted..any exercises//advice on getting this to work out fine? This would also help me out with barre chords too, right?

It's a barre chord. Essentially what you're doing is turning your first finger into a capo and playing an E-position with the rest of your fingers. Put your index across all the strings (it's difficult at first, but practice; it's essential for many chords) and place your pinky and ring finger on the 9th fret. Place the middle finger on the 8th fret. Should look something like this:

Yeah it gets kinda tricky plucking 6 strings at once with only 5 fingers..

Barre chords are all about practicing and strengthening your fingers, the more you play them the better you'll get.. Just concentrate on making every string ring out nicely at first and don't try to play too fast, then eventually you'll get the position/strength perfect and you can change chords faster..

Any song played slower sounds a LOT better than playing it fast with a heap of bum notes on the chords.

turn your finger to the side and use the side of the finger not the soft fleshy part it will help you until you get the finger strength if you p[oint your fretting arm elbow towards your hip it may help with the turn to the side on your finger.
