I have my college interview later on and I have to perform an audition

I dont have to bring my amp along, and on the phone he said they had some "spiders"

Im asuming he means line 6 spiders

I was just wondering what to expect frok them, I usually play through a ****ty marshall mg, my apologies ¬¬

Are they better in comparison?

If it's an audition, they may have a basic sound set up already, if not, there should be someone there who knows the gear to help you. Don't worry about it, they're auditioning your skills, not you knowledge of amps.

Girl (Ned/chav) annoying me on the bus.

Me "Have you ever bled out your arse-hole?"

Her: Facial expression was priceless - "What??! Noo!"

Me: "Well if you want to keep it that way, **** off."

She then turned away and whimpered.

Don't know about the school you're audtitioning at, but if you played eruption at an audition here they'd say "Mmmm'k, next."

What the details of the audition?

Im just auditioning for a place, im only 16 its not a specialised music school

I'm surprised to you don't have specific information about the audition. Almost every one I've had they've asked for something lyrical and something technical, ability to sightread and play a few scales (mind you, that isn't on guitar, but it's the same idea). A non specialized music school will probably only teach jazz and/or classical, so they wouldn't want you to go in and blast them away.

It's your audition though, so play whatever you feel comfortable with. I hope I'm wrong LOL!

Good Luck bro

Good god no. The insane channel is absolutely worthless, and with that much gain you wont hear any dynamics at all, hell you might not even hear differences in pitch.

If it's a Spider II Try:
Green crunch channel
Gain - whatever you need, but put the gain boost on (hold the tap button while turning the gain past 12 o'clock).
Bass - Pretty low.
Mids - Mid level lol.
Treble - Up high, it is VH after all.

Aggreed, Pink, I was going to suggest the crunch channel.

Are you sure that Eruption is a good pick? I mean...it's great and all, but smells like overdone deedely deedely. I'd just go up there, say "alright, I'm just gonna make some stuff up now" and do some improvy jamming 'till they kicked me off. They're not there to bow down to kiss your boots as your rip through a blistering solo, methinks.

Hopefully they mean the spider valve.

Either way, crank the mids up pretty high, and adjust the bass and treble around that. Keep the gain at a moderate level, enough to sustain but not so much that you sound ultra fuzzy and toneless.

what school is it....... im interested if its contemporary music.

and yeah dont go shredding and make a ton of mistakes and end up looking worse than if you went and played something catchy and easy.

play some easy rhythm groove with some spice here and there (I.E. fugues.....look it up) and then some to tempo solo improv. and going easy on the gain so they can hear your dynamics is a good idea as well as not scooping your mids lol.

My question is that if you all hate Spiders so much, and say their tone is crap, how do you know so much about their settings and all? lol

Because many of us have owned crappy amps like Spiders, MGs and in my case a Frontman. That's how we know how crappy these amps are, well those of us who aren't just jumping on the bandwagon.
