So I think I'm going to order a fuzz pedal. I'm not sure whether to get the Z Vex box of fuzz or the big muff. I like frusciante's and muse's tone so I'm not sure which one to get. How do they compare? What styles does each one excel for?

For Frusciante go with Big Muff. I don't know what Muse uses. but Frooosh solos were basically played on Muff and Muff with Boss DS-2.

Maybe the Muff, I'm not sure. I don't think Bellamy uses the Fuzz Factory anymore.

Isn't the Fuzz Factory a bit more gritty? And the Muff is more liquid?

I use Fulltone Octafuzz, pretty mean, on either setting.
I love it to death... I kissed it the other night.

Can get Muse well. Can't say about frusciante.

the fuzz factory can be changed to sound like pretty much every fuzz i've heard so go for that, however it is like twice as expensive as the big muff and i think matt might us a big muff not sure

Frusciante has also used a Fuzz Factory in 2003 - By The Way Tour. so Fuzz Factory is a nice thing for Your style.

He had like three.

Then again, Fru plays By The Way stuff through the Muff live, and he pretty much nails it.

What is the difference between the vexter and the handpainted fuzz factory?

^I don't think there's any difference appart from the way they look and the hand painted one I think has a lifetime warranty.

No difference. Guts are the same.

Just one is handpainted and the other is screen printed so its bit cheaper.

And ALL ZVex have lifetime warranties.
