hey, ive currently got an ibanez s520ex, its a beast! i love the guitar, sounds awesome, plays well, feels good, and it perfectly suits alot of my music: bullet, trivium, old LP, dragonforce (or at least try to play), children of bodom etc!! but i also play quite alot of classic rock, Gnr, acdc, zz top etc.. and i play alot of sorta emo punk pop stuff.. i dont know why.. i just do ok? so i was looking for a new guitar to reach my other music types other than METAL!

i was thinking maybe an epi les paul.. maybe the zakk wylde one?
or a custom (i did have a les paul custom before.. but i think it was a fake.. ebay..)

basically im thinking something between about £300 and £600. any ideas? or any advice or knowledge about the zakk wlde guitar or etc? any advice or general words related to guitars would be most appreciated!

(plus i need another guitar for differnt tunings, the s520 with the locking trem can be a pain in the ass!!)

cheers guys!

well, look at the pickups on the guitars, and if they have actice pickups then they probably aren't what you want, and if the guitars "image" is very metal, then it won't be what you want.

The ZW Epi has passive EMGs. EMGs are made for metal, and the EMG-HZ (passives) are just the crappy version. Although I do recommend putting active EMGs in your S-Series, it'l sound even better for metal. Otherwise you'd be looking at an Epi LP custom, or if you push your budget a little further, a cheaper Gibson, maybe a flying V.

I have an epi Les Paul standard, and it works great for any kind of classic rock, sounds great heavily distorted, or playing clean tracks, and is easily tuned down, if needed. I live in America so i don't go by euros, but only get the Zakk Wylde if you really want the looks, otherwise just get a standard(they all sound the same), because any custom will cost a lot more.

The Epiphone Zakk Wylde guitar is overpriced.

If you want a unique looking and surprisingly amazing sounding guitar, check out the Minarik Inferno.

A very resonant and full sounding guitar that is very versatile.

You may want to swap out the pickups for some Passive ones though, I'd recommend Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz (bridge/neck)

He may as well just save a bunch of money and get a Washburn X50 Pro.

Schecters are pretty overpriced on your side of the pond.
