Hi

I had some Japanese pickups on my strat with a single Fender pickup that looks like a noiseless from the top (tapered bobins) but it has cloth wires and it doesnt have dual coils. Maybe its an Original 57/62. Anyway, this was apparently a neck pickup but it seemed a little wide but sounded quite nice so I got hold of 2 noiseless pickups and 3 covers. The trouble is that the cover from the noiseless doesnt fit the old neck pickup and it actually fits better in the bridge. Matches the strings perfectly. I got the cover to fit by drilling the holes out a bit but this doesnt look great.

So...

How can you tell if a pickup is designed for the Bridge, Middle or Neck position?

and

What is the deal with the different spacings between the bobbins? Is it related?

Thanks

Alfie
