I searched and I didn't get a thread saddest band ever. There's saddest songs and such, but not saddest overall band. My opinion is Joy Division, I love them so much, but I get so depressed after listening to them. I think the fact that Ian Curtis killed himself makes the music sadder in context.

Society's doing great. There's a rise of people like PlayMadness. I feel pretty good about the way things are going.

saddest song in the world.

That song rocks. Reminds me of giant spiders getting shot at.

The saddest band?

Why, that would have to Panic! at the disco. Their whines are positvely pathetic.

Joy Division or The Cure.

I was going to add The Cure to my post and they definitely are pretty sad, but the whole Ian Curtis killing himself thing makes Joy Division more sad for me.

You only went by the title didn't you?

Anyway I would say Pink Floyd have some sad tunes, but I don't think its possible to name one band the saddest, their are alot of bands out their who could compete for that title

I find that song relaxing and quite joyful, actually.

Never really felt for the song (can't stand to listen to it); the lyrics are pretty sad though.

Elliott Smith definitely has some pretty sad material, and a lot of coheed and cambrias stuff is really really sad, especially towards the end of the story.

I couldn't say what the saddest band is, but in terms of songs, I'd say either "Oh Death" by Ralph Stanley or "Mr. Zero" by Keith Relf.

Not a real sad band, but I think "Nothing to Lose "by Billy Talent is pretty sad.

Even though it seems their lyrics could be satirical.
My style is impetuous.
My defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious.
I want your heart.
I want to eat your children.

Erik Satie is amazing but IMO his music doesn't strike me as particularly sad.

Most of what I have heard sounds more dreamlike and serene then anything else.

I've only heard a couple songs by Blue October but they were extremely depressing. there's probably a lot worse though.

AC/DC are pretty sad if you ask me. All of their songs are so depressing

Joy Division is easily the gloomiest band to have "Joy" in their name.

Tom Waits has some sad ones, too.
