I find that whenever I play a riff with open strings in it (particularly open low E) it overpowers the rest of the chord and I can barely make out the rest of the chord.

For example this riff sort of thing: (chugging downpicking, medium pace)

2-2-2-2-2-2-7-7-7-7-7-7-11-11-11-11-11-11-7-7-7-7-7-3-2-2-2-2-2-2

I have stock pickups in my RG550. Using a podxt (with metal pack)

Maybe I just need to tweak my pod settings, suggestions?

Another example (just played fast, alternate strumming)

Oh and how the heck do I make the tab come out right? I remember there was some way to "tag" it (like with /quote but something else)

would lowering the pickup on the end where the low E is do anything? Seems like it would, but I say this with no confidence

Edit: Isnt this sort of what an equalizer pedal is for?

for the E string problem, try strumming softer, if you're already not satrumming really hard, try to raise your pickup the thin string side(or lower the big string side) it should make a difference,, also maybe you have individual string allen keys that you could play with, give it a try. for the tab problem, I think it's the font you use that makes the difference but I'm not sure

well ill answer the tab question...write up the tab in the window, go advanced, highlight the tab and click the # icon (add code around text)
ex:
e-3--0
B-0--0
G-0--0
D-0--2
A-2--2
E-3--0

I would tweak your EQ settings either on your Pod or your amp...

What do you mean "to what?"

I mean, adjust the EQ. Cut the lows a bit. I don't know what your settings are right now, so I couldn't tell you what to set it to exactly, you just have to play around with it and see what the effects are....

Try setting all the EQ controls at 12 o'clock and then adjust them by bringing up the mids to taste, then the highs, then the lows.

Alright tried that, no dice.

I dicked around with the EQs for like an hour it still sounds muffled.

did you try it on your amp AND your Pod? If your EQ settings aren't helping, than I don't know what to tell you.. If there's no response from adjusting the low end of your eq then I have no answers for you man.

ALSO, is your EQ activated on your Pod(for the specific settings you're using)? I have an XT Live, and I know that it has to be turned on for whatever setting I'm using. Sometimes it's on, sometimes it's off. Also, it has a "Pre" and a "Post" setting...

Check it out man. That's all I got for ya... Good luck
