Alright I have to write a paper and in it I want to use an example from history about how someone's open mindedness helped to pioneer a social revolution or make an invention or anything important (like a white supporter of the civil rights movement or something like that). Also, it'd be cool if you guys could post links to any articles with the information about the person, too. Thanks a lot.

open minded ppl are often frowned upon for being open minded

case in point, Politics, wanna insult someone, call them liberal!

=( since when is not having biases and an agenda based on the traditional dem/rep a bad thing?

You have to be careful with this open-mindedness thing... if you go too far, your brains could fall out.

Would freedom of religion in the early American politics be an example?

Behold...the Arctopus are obviously music. I don't see how anyone could say they're not music compared to many modern and post-modern composers. That being said, I think B...tA are terrible.

How about whoever decided to try Tesla's AC current rather than following the popular trend of going with Edison? Don't have any info on hand but I'm pretty sure Tesla wasn't the most popular, he had some pretty wacked up ideas.... There was a thread talking about him, try search barring that.
