so im on a hunt for some songs that have "epic" solos to create a compilation cd.

some examples of what im looking for are

"Drained" - James Labrie

or
"Like Light to Flies" - Trivium

or "Floods" - Pantera

once you get the idea
post a suggestion

this is kind of a broad genre subject, i know, i just didnt want to get in trouble for posting it in the pit

thanks

those solos are awesome
but thats not what i meant by epic

for instance, one of the few that was epic, is the Unforgiven

it has a big build up beforethe solo

take a look at my examples

Edit:
no more tears is actually a perfect example

Ok ya i kinda see your point I to am a rythm guitarist i think that it all depends on the type of music your playing if you play but im all for a solo if the guitarist knows what the hell he/shes doin it can sound kick A$$ but if they can't play your gonna get overrated dragonforce riffs

Cause of Death - Obituary (the solo that starts off the song)
That is all you need on your cd. in fact delete all the other songs and just put 13 copies of Cause of Death that way you can listen to it on repeat.

Different strokes for different folks I guess . I just felt Chuck Schuldiner played a better sounding solo.

Painkiller is the only song I like from Judas Priest. Other than that, Judas Priest is fail.

I think that the solo in Dream Theater's song Forsaken has a rather majestic quality to it, particularly the end when it blends in with the vocals.

Iron Maiden's classic Hallowed Be Thy Name has two perfect solos to help close out a song which is epic from start to finish, and the solos live up to the rest perfectly in my opinion. To be quite honest though, Maiden has so many epic guitar solos it's way too hard to pick one or to name them all.

Tears of the Dragon by Bruce Dickinson is another one that jumps out in my mind, Roy Z is a bad mother ****er.

I absolutely love the solo in Excalibur by Grave Digger, those opening notes soar, taking a song that already kicks mounds of ass into the territory that one might describe as epic.

The 2nd solo in Metallica's Fade To Black is in my opinion Hammett's crowning achievement, it's just too bad that he chose this song to improvise on every time they do it live. If ever there was a song for him to lay off the wah with, it's this one. Damn you, Kirk!!

This subject is more or less dependent on the opinion of the individual, so not everyone's going to agree with my choices.

All 24 minutes of that song is epic...

Anyways, +1 for Necrophagist, Megadeth, Death, and Randy Rhoads!
