It was at a local guitar shop, and i only payed $170 for it...

the owner said it was a different Special II and I agreed because of the pickups and all gold hardware are uncharacterisic for a SP II...

It had no paper work but he said it was manufactured in 1991.

The decal says "Epiphone Limited Edition Custom Shop"

Does anyone have some info on these guitars?

(I also got a used Fender Frontman 15G For $20)
I can do it!

And so can you!

The gold pickups are just covers, you can buy those for ten bucks. I think you got ripped...

You paid about what a new one costs.
I can't locate any of the ones with pickup covers, but here you go.

If it's from '91 and it's in good shape then I'd say you did good. A Custom shop Special? Interesting.

I have the SG equivalent of the Special, and it's not a bad guitar.

I think the Custom Shop modles feel better then the originals. Plus they look cooler too. $170 isn't bad at all.

Yep. I bought some black pickup covers and used some tipex to write EMG on them
