Well I'm in a band right now who are really quite boring, so I'm trying to bring in different sorts of styles to the songs. One thing I'm really interested in is Spanish sounding things(forgive my lack of preciseness there) such as The Mars Volta(L'Via L'Viaquez and Vade Mecum if you know the songs) and songs like Hoodoo and City Of Delusion by Muse. Could you guys give me any tips on how to write music similar to these sort of styles? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Learn and analyse songs with the style you want, and apply what you want to use.

Is the music in L'Via L'Viaquez really spanish or is it just the lyrics?
