I have been playing stuff exactly like tom morello. Everything from the helicopter sounds to his record scrates. I am looking for a distortion pedal to maybe grasp his sound. I have a digitech death metal pedal and it aint that great.

If you like Digitech (which it seems you do) then check out the Hot Rod distortion. I like it a lot.

Also, try using the RP80 you have.

I really don't like digitech, i mean there ok for some stuff but I usually buy them because there cheap. I use the rp80 for some of his stuff such as the helicopters and some of the random noises. I need something like Bulls on parade, guerrila radio, killing in the name, and the rest.

I had a ds-1 and sold it. I think it was a bad move.

Wasn't this thread about earlier?
Morello cranks a Marshall JCM 800 for his distortion. Only a JCM800 will sound like it.

Try an MI Audio crunchbox. I play it through an AC30, sometimes with a tubescreamer in front of it if. I can nail morello's sound.

yeah, get the ds-1
i have it now, i just roll the tone down to around 8 to 9 o clock and put the gain a bit past halfway or sometimes just straight up, i think its a pretty spot on morello tone

keep in mind that pick attack plays a big roll in this also, since tom attacks like a monster and uses 9 gauge strings, its easy to get that powerful boom sound for any riff

Dont waste your money buying pedals to chase a sound only an amp can produce.....

Yeah I'd say it's going to be really hard to nail his sound via distortion pedals. If I feel like playing like Tom I put a Bad Monkey Pedal through my Tiny Terror and it does a variation of his sound but basically the same thing(the pedal has too much feedback imo). If you ever get his sounds; let me know.

try the boss blues driver!
i'm not sure how it'll with your amp but with a fender amp its very versatile and you can get a very good morello sound ou of it.
