I was going to pick up a new Fender Champion 600 for $200 this weekend so I could give tubes a try and have a smaller amp to tool around with that didn't suck horridly *only other small amp is a first act :/* and I was wondering is this a good way to give tubes a try since it has a preamp tube and a power tube and some of the others I have seen don't have a power tube, or does the power tube make it sound more tube or not? *please excuse the noob in me, I'm just branching out and need help lol* Thanks guys.

What makes a tube amp is that is has both preamp tubes and power tubes. They usually have 3 preamp tubes (like 12ax7's) and 2 or 4 power amp tubes (like 6L6's or EL84's). There are some part-tube amps that have preamp tubes only, but they are usually POS's.
K, so is this a good one for haveing a small tube amp that is inexpensive yet still sounds like a tube amp?
well it IS a tube amp, so it will sound like a tube amp

^^It depends on what you play. Ifyou play metal and hard rock, I wouldn't recommend the Fender...
