... should I have perfect finger posture? IE if I am playing a chromatic scale like..

from 6th>1st string each one being played...

E - Open>1stfret>2nd>3rd>4th
A - Open>1stfret>2nd>3rd>4th

while playing like the frets on the low E, is it ok for my fingers to be touching/muting the A string since I'm not playing the A right then? Or should My finger be touching nothing except teh string where I am fretting it?
it would be okay to mute the other string, but keeping it up would help you with dexterity later on, so i would go with keeping your fingers up
