If you apply for the preferred player card do you get the benifits that day?

And if you do and you buy a guitar on the monthly payments do they charge interest?

just some questions

Preferred Player Card:
Use your Preferred Player Card to pay for your purchase including your Performance Guarantee and spread the payments out monthly. There's No Annual Fee, 90 Days No Payment and No Interest on your first purchase with approved credit.* The short application is processed in the store so you can use your credit line right away!

So yes, you can use it that day, and yes, there is interest. That is how they get you. If you make all your payments it is great, but if you get trapped in missing one interest goes up the butt.

Plus this: IMPORTANT

No Payment/No Interest Financing Details:
*Same as Cash offer on Guitar Center Preferred Player Credit Card purchases. No Finance Charges if purchase paid in full in 3 months. If purchase not paid in full or Account not kept current, Finance Charges assessed from purchase date and Minimum Monthly Payments required. Variable Standard Rate APR: 21.9% as of 1/30/08. Variable Default Rate APR: 25.65% as of 1/30/08. Minimum Finance Charge $2.00. Certain rules apply to the allocation of payments and Finance Charges on your promotional purchase if you make more than one purchase on your Guitar Center Preferred Player Credit Card. Call 1-888-367-4310 or review your cardholder agreement for information. Items must be new and in stock. No special orders. Returns and/or exchanges shall not extend or change the 3 months promotional period and all purchases are subject to Guitar Center's return policy (posted in-store and online).

Yes, benefits are immediate. As long as they have one of those "buy anything over X and don't pay for a year!" you won't be charged interest, but keep in mind you MUST pay it off within a year or you will be charged retroactive interest. So if you buy a guitar for $1000, after a year if the balance is not at $0 you'll be charged interest for the original $1000 amount, no matter what your balance is at the end. It's equivalent to a free loan if you pay it off on time, but if not a good deal very quickly becomes a horrible one.

One more quick note, you may want to look at musiciansfriend...in almost every state it's tax-free, and free shipping over $99, and they usually have similar offers going on.
