ok ive seen these split coils for the 81 and wondering is it worth the extra money to get a split coil instead of the 81 i mean does it diversify ur tone alot? just wondering

It's your call. If you think you'll need the brighter sound of a single coil (the SA, if I remember correctly) for some of your music, then go for it. Your best bet in that situation would be to get an 81TW/89 (if you have a HH guitar) so you can split them both and get a wider range of tonal options.

The SA/81 combo works good, but I don't think there's anyway to tap the 81. Unless they've come out with a new version since I bought mine a couple years ago. One conductor wire equals no coil tap.

The 89s are tappable I believe

There's an 81TW and the 89, which are both splittable, not tappable. The 81 and 89 both go to a SA when split, and while unsplit, the 89 is essentially an 85.
