You play it like a standup bass . You can use the fretboard or use the handle to tension the 1 string while tapping the string with a drum stick.

how odd, I was just thinking to build one of those my self, What pickup and gauge bass string did you use. also what did you use for a nut so that when modulating tension it doesnt make a scratching sound.

I used a Jazz Bass pickup .I purchased a set of double bass strings.The set came with a G,D,A,E. I used the D string.The nut is just a old graphite one I had.
