not that kind of g-string!
(lame joke aside) whenever i tune my guitar all of the strings sound in tune except for the G. my tuner says it's tuned but it sounds nasty.

what's the problem and how should i fix it.

i play an AS73 Ibanez artcore and the strings are elixir super lights.

Intonation!!!!!

:EDIT:
Also, light strings are notoriously pants for staying in tune. They'll also sound sharp if you strum them too hard, Perhaps some slightly heavier strings might help. Unless you don't want heavier strings.

How old are your strings? After a month or 2 max they can start to lose their intonation, have you tried replacing them? And also like the other guys said you could try heavier strings.

could be intonation but my LP's G string goes out of tune heaps too because the tuner is a little loose, but that too hasn't had the intonation done in a while

well i've changed the strings many times after it started happening. i could try heavier strings...but another thing, how come it's only that string, if it had to do with light strings wouldn't they start sounding bad?

does that mean 10's easier stay in tune than 9's

When you tune it up, will it tune correctly and then immediately fall out again? If so, your tuner is probably balls. Before you replace it, however, try winding your strings with one wrap over the hole and the rest of the wraps underneath it. This helps to lock the string in place while the whole string stretches and settles.
Best of luck comrade!
