I got a nice 4gb Quadcore PC recently but the damn thing still freezes up occassionally. Do apples never freeze like when running a lot of applications or on the net?
#2
nope, apples crash. whatever ppl tell you, neither of the main brands are best. i like using macs for colelge work and graphics but i prefer windows for all else.
#3
yeah it's your fault for buying something from Apple
your best bet is to give it to your worst enemy and get a decent computer

all computers are computers, they will crash no matter what if they cant do the specific action

that being said, go macs!

My mac has never crashed.

I've had it since last August too.
What websites were you on, how many apps were you running, and what do you mean by "freezes up"?

i've had my mac for 6 years, i've never had any problem with it. for some reason there's a lot of bitching over which computer system is better as if it's some highly controversial subject. people are so dumb.

ive used macs all my life, and not once did one crash. or get a virus. or get slow. i use pc's too, but apple computers are far superior to microsoft pcs.

well, there are the people that have never used them before who can't find their way around and freak out. but yeah, i don't think i've ever heard a mac owner complain.

if by crash you mean lock up nd need to restart, it happens to me about once every 2 weeks or so.

i have an iMac Intel Core Duo w/ 2gb ram

i love my mac, so easy to use and no bullsh!t. my brother has vista and it blows.
#14
This is going to turn into a Mac vs Intel thread...

Im getting a mac soon

They're always smug bastards

My windows PC never crashes or gets a virus. It depends on how you're using it. I'm sure a person who would constantly would make windows PCs crash would make macs crash too.

I suppose that answer TS's question.

my god, do not get one. btry to get XP if you must go windows. vista is so glitch. or buy the new Leopard OSX, you can install windows on you mac and run it. basically, you dedicate a section of you hard drive to be windows.

My Mac is incredibly stable, ironically the only thing that's ever crashed on it is Microsoft Word. The only problem I've had with it was the DVD drive breaking, which could have happened on any computer and was probably caused by it being bashed around in my bag on the way to and from uni every day.

only time my mac gets slow is when i'm importing a cd. i dunno if it's because it's a laptop and the cd drive isn't that fast, or if it's just a big task, but i can't run both safari and microsoft word while importing a cd, or the windows have a 5 second lag when i switch between them.
as far as actually freeze up, no. i wouldn't get a desktop anyway, i hear they're not too great, but the macbooks are awesome.

2 of my roommates have MacBooks, another has a Mac Pro. I'm using a PC and I prefer their Macs to it anytime just because I've had a lot of trouble with this thing recently (my Seagate HD failed, then my RAM failed, so I got a new HD, a new video card, and more RAM, and then the motherboard's automatic IRQ thing assigned the wrong values, so everything got messed... I was experiencing random shutdown crashes for weeks until I finally figured it out... interestingly enough my Linux boot worked perfectly while my Windows boot was crashing non-stop)

The advantage to a PC is that it's far more upgradeable and customizable than a Mac, but it's also a little more tricky to do so. Also, more games are made for Windows, but I'm becoming more of a console gamer anyway, apart from World of Warcraft. In my case, I use my computer for photo and video editing, web programming (HTML/PHP/XML), and for music recording.

My next computer will be a Mac. Why? I prefer the user interface of Mac OSX to that of Windows XP or Vista. You'd be foolish to say that Apple's OS is simplistic and rigid anymore, with all of the new features they've added... My friend lives in Nashville, recording music down there, and he sent me the latest version of his CD via this iDisk thing... I got on my roommate's Mac, logged in, and I literally had 12 songs in about 30 seconds. That kind of utility is something you CAN'T pay for.

Yes, you spend 1500 on a computer. But that computer comes with an OS that has all sorts of software that is amazingly simple, and yet ten times more powerful than its PC counterpart. Garageband is a far better program than anything Windows has to offer for free, iWeb is about as good as Dreamweaver and it's free, and the .mac stuff is just really cool, and it's all integrated into the OS.

Definitely want a Mac.

I hate how Windows makes me install Windows Update, then it pesters me with restarts and installations, then I have to install Microsoft Update, and I have to do it with IE and not Firefox, and it's just a pain in the ass. Apple just seems nicer to their customers.

BOOTCAMP FTW! (if for some reason you want windows touching your beautiful mac)

I've used Macs before. I have a few complaints

Not enough compatibility. Not enough customization. Sure they look nice, but when it comes to open source software, Macs are very behind Windows, which is behind Linux.
Also, the amount of DRM they use is ridiculous.
