Between these two. What would be a better amp for practice, and works best with pedals.

Musical tastes would include basically anything, mostly Thrash and other metal, but i really want a versatile practice amp.

Well, from what I hear, the Valve Junior is a great practice, I'd definately use it. People say that it gives you a great Clean tone and when it breaks up, its a great Classic Rock kind of tone.

If you use an Overdrive/Distortion Pedal, then you can probably get a good Thrash tone, sinces its what you're into.

I haven't heard much about the Little Giant, but I know it has an EQ Selection (Bass/Treb/Mid).

It will NOT do metal without a good overdrive.
NEITHER of them will.
They both will do classic rock when they start overdriving at heaviest.

Nothing at that price range will really work for metal.

I don't know, in my opinion, a boost can't really turn a classic rock voiced amp into a metal, thrash amp--it just doesn't work that way.

if you're into thrash/metal i think you should look into the peavey valveking royal 8. it has more of a modern voicing than the other 5 watt tubes. never tried it though so can't comment on how good it is. but it has an attenuator so you can crank it at low volumes. pretty sure it has a gain knob too so you can get some preamp distortion as well.

The Blackhearts actually gets quite a bit of gain when up full, defiantely hard rock sort of gain.
