I got a broken Boss MT-2. I've returned the broken one for a new one but the people at my local music store let me keep the broken one. A few months later and I've sold my working pedal, leaving me with the broken one.

I've decided I want a distortion pedal again, mainly for just recording, and I figured it would be cheaper to fix the broken one I have than to buy a new one.

Anyway, on to the problem. The pedal bypasses fine, but when I turn it on there is no audible difference, not even when I turn any of the knobs, just like it was bypassing. Anyone know what the problem is and/or how to fix it?
Thanks for any help in advance.

dodgy switch?

dodgy battery connection?

blown internal component which is impossible to diagnose and even more so to fix?
Get off this damn forum and play your damn guitar.

I think unfortunatly its the third one as the LED turns on fine, and I use a power adapter. So there would be no way to fix it if some internal componant was fried?
