Hey guys,

Just a quick Question. Recently Ive purchased a new guitar. Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I love it, however, stock, out of my marshall dsl half stack, the pickups seem a little muddy when you drop tune. I usually play drop D, and the most i ever detune is drop C. I play styles similar to thrice and Every time i die. Ive never replaced pickups before and i was wondering how easy it would be to replace the stock pickups with Seymour Duncan SH-4 and SH-5. Has anyone ever used those? or do you have any other recommendations for pickups that would suit those styles? Any information on that, and how hard it is to fit pickups into a guitar, without routing out the body would be appreciated! Thanks guys.

Gear forum.
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.

This belongs in either the 'electric guitar', 'guitar gear and accessories' or 'building and customising' forum. read their rules and FAQs first.

if the sh-4's and the sh-5's are the jb/"59 combo, then yes these pickups are amazing for a modern wsound that wont sound muddy or like they have too much distortion and are well balanced. but on pickup websites you usualkly can download directions on how to install pickups

The SH 4's are the JB model, but the sh 5 isnt. is the 59 a different pickup?
