So my dad is getting me a new guitar in the summer some time, and I have 3 guitars in mind but I don't know which one I should get.

I was thinking on getting either....

A Gibson Les Paul Standard

A PRS Custom 24

A PRS Singlecut Trem

I mainly play hard rock and some metal.

wow... i wish i had your dad... but i'd go with the les paul of course

i have a singlecutse.... but i must say the custom 24... its what an orgasm represented in wood and steel looks like... and plays like a dream

For metal the singlecut would probably be best if you're talking harder more modern stuff...however if you're talking the hard rock and metal like GNR the Les Paul would be the way to go.
Gibson Les Paul Classic
Traynor YCV 50 Custom Blue

PRS Custom 24.

I played about 5 or 6 of them when trying to choose a new guitar recently and loved every one of them. They are incredible guitars.

In the end though, I was able to get my first choice guitar at a price I couldn't argue with, but a PRS Custom 24 became my second choice after not even being on the list of guitars I was considering.

singlecut for metal, les paul for hard rock...which do you play more?

Hard Rock like Lenny Kratiz, Alter Bridge, stuff like that.

If you play Alter Bridge-tpe stuff, it's worth noting Mark Tremonti uses a Singlecut so maybe you should go for that afterall if you want to get a sound closer to his.

I suggested Custom 24 based on the fact I believe it to be a superior guitar to the Singlecut and a Les Paul.

I'm thinking about getting an electric guitar in a few years, im relatively new to guitar and i want one that will last and is in the range of 150$ CND to 300$CND.
I really need suggestions, please, help!!!
Also, my closest guitar supply store ( and guitar store) is St. John's Music in Toronto. Also, im gonna need an amp, any ideas?

Yeah, but that's not actually Tremonti's guitar

That's the 'Special Edition' version, i.e the cheaper, lower-quality, entry level version of the Tremonti signature guitar.

The Custom 24 will be versatile enough for all of the music you play - but looking at your equipment, ask Dad for a nicer amp too

Yeah haha.

But I'd think that be pushing it.

i say the custom 24
but i jsut dont like les pauls that much so i might be biased.
but custom 24s are just over all better guitars than a les paul.
the neck is much more comfortable and is much more versatile than singlecut or les paul. and not taht it really matters but les pauls are like a billion pounds and when your running around on stage it sucks haha

Surely the Les Paul is the cheapest of the given 3?

Your dad is willing to buy you a Gibson Les Paul. You also have 3 guitars currently?

I'd rather pay $500 then over 2 grand

Meh, you get what you pay for Especially when the price difference is so huge.

I recently bought my dream guitar (the one I mentioned being able to save money on earlier) and I got £300 off the RRP of the guitar so was very happy (more than $500 as a reduction)

Regardless of the name, we both know what it means

They are all way over-priced guitars in my opinion, I'd rather put the $2-3K on an amp.

I think your C-1 with a really nice amp would be a creamy set-up.

But I am an amp *****.

The Custom 24, hands down.

I hate you by the way.

I wish my dad bought me gear when I was a little lad. I had to drain out all of my cash to get my gear.

either of the two PRS, i'd probably get a singlecut you know, i love them in a tobacco burst.. OH MOMMA
#32
OO, I forgot to add this in, I think if I WAS to buy the LP, I would get a nice tube combo with it. I had a AC30 in mind. BTW, I also need the guitar to be able to get nice bluesy/indie/Edge type tones. I do a lot of classic rock too.

Can the Custom 24 do Bluesy stuff very well??

The Custom 24 can do a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. It'll make you a sandwich and get you a beer while rocking the house down.
