I have tried so hard to like/want to buy these amps. I have listened to LOG, Dream theatre... and their tones are great, just not me, they just dont like, sting me... I don't know, everyone reccomends them to me for my "bluesmetal" band. Will somebody give me clips that will make me see the light? (maybe im just born to like the single rectos )

BLASPHEMER DIE.

I don't think you understand the versatility of this amp. You can get just about any sound from it. I mean, come on, there 22 controls on the front of the thing that are used to adjust the sound and even more in back that all do something different.

nothing wrong with you...that an amp is really expensive and liked by a lot of people does not mean is for everyone

perhaps i need to really take time to mess with one myself (the one i played i only played for like 5 minutes). I don't know, the leads i played didn't electrify me, and the rhythm i played didn't really give me the chug I wanted. Somebody give me some good clips!

Yeah, 5 minutes is not enough time at all to dial in some good sounds. Someone in here has one. I think it is UnsignedRecords. He has some clips on his profile page.

Yeah that's definitely a problem. Getting a good tone with it in 5 minutes is near impossible. You really need to take your time messing with it.

no you probably just dont like the tone, dont worry about it. not every metal band on earth plays a mark iv.... theres a reason for that.

I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you just don't like it's tone. No worries. I suggest you try some of those settings and tweak them a little whenever you can try the amp again. Who knows, you might have a change of heart when you hear it in person with the bass thumping the place.

it's alright highwaytohell, it's a bit of a daunting amp to play with the first time around. try some of those settings that acdcrocks stole ( which reminds me, you forgot to include the graphic eq in the brootalz setting, should probably add that in or else it's gonna sounds like screeching feedback) and see what happens. if you still don't like it, then it's just not your type, nothing wrong with that.

If it's not your tone, it just wasn't meant to be. I've always said the Mark IVs are great amps for people who want really good tone across the whole spectrum of playing styles, & they take a while to dial in, as mentioned. The only trouble w/ the Mark IVs IMO is that they don't do any one sound the best (sorry , Jon! Just my $.02 ). That's why I don't own a Mark IV. I like a few specialized types of tones that my amps can get, & a Mark IV can't come close. I love LOG's sound, but there's other amps that will do it. If you're in a "bluesmetal" band, there's probably a better choice out there that will do the sound you want right out of the gate, without having to boost/EQ/generally fiddle with. I'm not exactly sure what type tone you mean (SRV-ish?), so it's hard to make suggestions.
TRY OUT LOTS OF AMPS!! Besides, it's fun.

what kind of guitar are you playing, TS?

I'm hearing a steady *thump thump* from the people above me and I need some porno grooves to play on my bass to give them some background music. Any ideas?

I must admit i'm a gain VVhore if that says anything! however, i do like to keep my sound clear and transparent. Think Marty Friedman but a tad heavier and a little more midrange... something like that. I like defining my tone myself, but thats a ballpark aproximation. For the guy who asked what guitars I used, I usually use a 60s Gibson SG junior and a 79 strat with a dimarzio superdistortion stacked single-coil in the bridge.
