so i bought humbuckers and i just noticed that they only have 3 wires instead of the standard four or even 5.

it has as follows:

red
black
white

please tell me which one would be which!

im pretty sure that the black is ground but thats it

I've seen some Squiers with r/b/w... the Red was the split wire. The white was the hot wire, and the Black was the ground.

This means you put the black to ground, the white to the volume pot input, and the red either goes nowhere and gets taped up, or you can connect it to a switch that goes to ground.

If my guess is correct, the other end of the red wire inside the humbucker is connected at the point where the two coils connect to each other. On a Seymour Duncan or something you would see both of those wires coming out as red and white. Cheaper humbuckers do it with just one wire coming out.
