Should I get a Mexican Fender Stratocaster or an Epiphone Les Paul Standard? OR none of the above. ( I'm looking for a price range of $400 )
#3
Strat, but the Epi is also a good choice.

Two way different guitars, not a good comparison. In time you may want bolth.

I'm not the heavy rock kind of guy, more like.. Eric Johnson.. Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Eric Clapton.
#10
Strat= Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton. its more for easier listening type stuff but dosen't sound bad with distortion

Les Paul= More for metaly stuff, but if used right the humbuckers are pretty decent blues
#11
Alright Strat it is.
One quick question, what is that darker maple wood called?
#12
that I don't know
I was told but I forgot...

I like the maple anyways, but thats just me

So should I just stick to what I ordered, Arctic White Mexican Stratocaster ( SSS )?
I need to save up money for a decent practice amp, what do you guys recommend?

In that picture? No that's maple...rosewood is dark brown. Kind of like mahogany but with a blackish tint...if that makes any sense.

edit: Whoa I got beat to the punch, lol.
#34
I have a les paul and it's great for all kinds of music, it's a great guitar for only 400 dollars
The fender is also a good guitar but i'd go for the epi
#35
you can always get an HSS strat for the best of bolth worlds....
#36
I have the standard strat, I've upgraded since buying it but it worked for the first couple of years of my guitar playing. It's a pretty decent workhorse. Mine has some nicks and scratches but it still plays great.

Resale value will probably be crap, but i wouldn't really worry about it. It sounds like your style suits the standard strat.
