72 Thinline

69 Thinline

How different are the tones of these two guitars?

I know the '69 is pretty close to the regular Telecaster but I've never played the '72 or a Telecaster Deluxe which it is similar to.

I play wide range of stuff. I mostly like hard and alternative rock.

Some artists I like include Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, Rolling Stones, Bloc Party, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lenny Kravitz, Our Lady Peace and Smashing Pumpkins.

Which one would you guys recommend?

from what you listen to i think you should get the 72. humbuckers are just more diverse than single coils.

There is no such thing as the 72 Custom Thinline, you're probably confused with the solid-body versions

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but how much does the F hole affect the sound really? I've been wondering about this for ages. So far, all I know is that it may increase feedback.
