I am contemplating starting a small band with 4 guys. We all have slightly different musical tastes, although they are not too far off.

They are (listed by preferability):

Guitarist #1: Metal, Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Progressive
Guitarist #2: Progressive, Shred, Hard Rock, Classic Rock
Bassist: Metal, Metal-Core, Hard Rock
Drummer: Classic Rock, Folk, Alternative, Hard Rock

I need a couple of simple, easily jammable songs that we can play together when we start practicing, so we can feel each other out, but they need to be in the ballpark of generes that I listed. I don't really want any band member to not like what we play collectivly...at least for starting out.

It seems we all have a general interest in Hard Rock...

What songs do you guys think will work? Thanks!

In gr.8 we got into purple nurples so much that the school would suspend anyone they saw doing it. We had really good aim.

you should all pick a cover to do that you think everyone will like as well, then cover those & put all your own ideas & stuff into your own songs, & mix all the genres

Fireball Ministry- Sundown.
Bang Camaro- Push Push (Lady Lightning) and has a bit of a shred solo.
Kamelot- We Three Kings
Queens Of The Stoneage- No one knows.
In Flames- Cloud Connected.

I don't know how simple this is, but Don't De-Rock Me by Tesla covers everything but folk, alternative, and metal-core.
"There is no hell. There is only France." - Frank Zappa
