So, I have an Epiphone Les Paul, and the pickups aren't quite as hot as I'd like, so I bought a Gibson neck pickup (the bridge pickup will be purchased soon). Now I'm fairly confident that I can do this myself, being as I know how to use a soldering iron, but is there anything I should know first? I know basically to "unsolder" the old pickup, connect the wires to the new pickup with the pots, controls, etc, and I've been told not to use a soldering iron with a trigger because it will demagnetize (sp?) the pickup, and then basically just solder the new one on. Anything else? Just making sure, I don't want to screw up my guitar.

Or you could do it my way and crimp the wires together (if thats the right word for it) and then if you ever want to switch them it'll be easy.
Do you use a BR-600?
