well are you fingerpicking? or are you playing normally? I mean because there are fingerpicks you could use, they're very handy for rockabilly, country and the like, but if you're playing anything else, I'd suggest leaning to use a pick, it's a lot easier in my opinion

Use a fingerpick.

yes! i tried that once-got some feedback. it was pretty cool

my bro used one for a while for bass until he started stealing mine...

You shouldn't have been picking with your thumb on bass in the first place

Just practice with a plectrum, and get a guitarist mate to help you out.

Well, Classical Guitar players use their nails (like finger-picking), either artificial ones or grown nails, and it gives a clear sound, better than a plectrum I'd say.

what you are saying TS, it that you would rather spend hundreds of dollars on a pedal or amp than just pick up a damn pick and use it? picks are like 20 cents, amps and pedals arent

i have played for 6 years i somtimes use a pick but i suck at it

I was the same at first, you get used to using a pick after a couple of days of only using it.

I practice strumming with my thumb, but I switch to a pick if I want to show someone something or if I'm playing with people. Strumming with your thumb is okay, but I would suggest practicing with a pick. Maybe turn the tone and volume up a smidge.

Pick pedals are good. You know the ones by Dunlop? I like the Tortex .88 pedal, you should go check them out.

If you insist on using fingers, get a really clear sounding amplifier. A Fender with an overdrive or something.
