Yes guys. My soloing tone is rediculously thin these days. I currently have no effects, and I was wondering if I should get one. I have a variety of pickups in my guitars, and none seem to do the trick (JB, Evo, EMG).

So what do I need to do in order to get a nice, thick lead tone from my amp? Should I get some effects, or do you have some specific EQ advice? And yes, I HAVE messed around with the EQ a lot. So don't just tell me to do that some more.

Any ideas?

Well, it's new and I haven't had it for more than about 2 months, so I don't think the tubes need rebiasing?

Anyways any rhythm stuff I play sounds incredibly awesome like it should do. I don't think there is a problem with the amp...

I don't exactly know what you mean by you're wanting a "thicker" tone. I think of thick as more low mids, but your definition could be different.

I have a 5150, which is the same as a 6505, and if you're using the lead channel for your solos, they will sound thin, that channel was designed to be thinner than the rhythm channel.

What are you running your EQ on the amp as?

I thought the lead channel was for distortion, and the rhythm channel was for cleans?

No, the rhythm is a dirty channel, and the lead is a high-gain lead channel.

Use your neck pickup, dial in some extra bass/mids, maybe even roll back on the tone pot on your guitar a little?

Also, if you could get a nice OD (Tubescreamer, Bad Monkey, etc.), run that in front of your lead channel to tighten up your sound and add some more mids.

I'd get a OD pedal, works for me. Also try the neck pickup as well.

I'm hearing a steady *thump thump* from the people above me and I need some porno grooves to play on my bass to give them some background music. Any ideas?
