hey guys,

just wondering if there are any specific distortion pedals you shouldn't use with tube amps, and what distortion pedals you would recommend for a tube amp. i currently play a digitech hothead through my LC30ii and its got a crunch that isnt too nice.

i know i should really use the amp distortion, but that requires using the FX loop which is too much hassle!

thanks!

Why does using amp distortion require the effects loop?

I would get a Digitech Bad Monkey. Od pedals like that will add some gain to your amp if you use the amp distortion, and will add some nice crunch. Also look at the Zakk Wylde overdrive, which should give your amp a nice crunch as well.

I got a Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion, and I play through a Peavey Classic 30 tube. It sounds disgusting, but it's like my dream tone. Think kind of like Neil Young on "Cortez the Killer".

You're obviously not very familiar with your own amp.
