Have an mp3 on my myspace
But, truth be know, I'm not a singer.

Knew It Was You
By Aaron Zimmerman
Copyright 2008

Don’t know where, and I don’t know when
But I said my prayers, and I found a friend
Oh I, don’t know where, and I don’t know how
But I, hit the ground….

You said “hi”, and I said “hello”
I would’ve smiled, but I didn’t know then
What we would be,
What we would be…..

There was a time when I
Never thought I’d find
Something so true
Then you spoke, and I
I just sighed
Oh, I knew it was you

We were so entranced, and years went by
We fell in love, and we made a life
Never thought that anything, could go wrong
But now you’re gone….

You said goodbye, and I said don’t go
Times are hard, oh, this I know
We can make it through….
We can make it through

There was a time when I
Never thought I’d find
Something so true
Then you spoke, and I
I just sighed
Oh, I knew it was you

Times gone by, and I, never forgot you
The offers still open, if you want to
Come back home…
Oh, come back home

There was a time when I
Never thought I’d find
Something so true
Then you spoke, and I
I just sighed
Oh, I knew it was you

There was a time when I
Never thought I’d find...
...You...

Not bad. I found the idea has been used numerous times, but it doesn't really matter here, because at least some structure was present unlike the countless other times...anyways, I think this is a pretty good piece. Do you write often or is this your first? Kind of curious to know what chords you used for the song...perhaps it can give me an idea of a rhythm or beat to hum the lyrics to...eh, good stuff all around. If you want, you can comment on either of the first two poems in my sig. Comment, not crit, because this was a half assed crit to begin with.

No, this is far from my first write. But it's my first in a while. It's one of the few songs I've written out of a melody I had going on my guitar. Usually I do lyrics first...

Chords:
Capo 9
C, Em, Am, G
Between picking and strumming.
