I just got an epiphone les paul silverburst about a month back, and ive noticed that if i take the volume of my amp (vox ad15vt) over 5 theres a horrible screeching sound...it starts as soon as you stop playing and it just lingers after that and starts again. I've heard that its probably the stock epiphone pickups that are microphonic and causing it, but im not actually sure. I have also tried on a friends amp, and the screeching is still there, so im pretty sure its my guitar. Does anyone know what this is and how to stop it?

Btw: Im using no effects, just straight through the amp.

Try turning the gain down a little bit, don't face strong electrical fields or fluorescent lights, mute the strings when you're not playing them, all of the above.
#3
can you shred it?

Tell her
"I could be playing this *inserts Job For a Cowboys Doom Cd*
but i'd rather play this *inserts *David Crowder followed by Brewster*"

haha yeah that should work

There's a chance it's the pups. get it looked at by a tech, they will be able to clear it up.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Sounds to me like feedback - Does it lessen the farther away from the amp you are?
