I'm curious if anybody else here is REALLY into choppers?

I don't mean people who just say "yeah choppers are mad" but don't even know what a v-twin is.

So any chopper enthusiests in the pit or am i a lonely man?

My fave bikes are the ones built by indian larry or any old skool chopper built around an ironhead or shovelhead.

EDIT: Oh and bobbers too

2ND EDIT: choppers as in custom motorcycle's carswell

I watched American Chopper a few times. Does that count?

If you actually payed attention and learned something form it then it counts.

They can be cool but IMO sometimes they get so bent on making something "unique" and "original" that they just end up making abominations. Also, I'd never own one because they are so ridiculously expensive as to take the fun out of riding- you have to worry about getting it dirty, scratching it, damaging it, somebody stealing it... I've heard a few cases of people who bought $100,000 custom bikes like ones from OC Choppers and regretting it because they caused so much stress.

Well you wouldn't wanna buy an award show bike

I like bikes that are built to ride, not hide.

choppers are pretty sweet, but i gotta hand it to the crotch rockets (ie. japanese bikes). my boss has a CBR600RR, that thing is f***in insane. the coolest bike i ever saw was a hyabusa that they made into a copper. long rake, huge sissy bar, and it did over 200 mph. Badass!!

Choppers are awesome! I love them, but I would rather have a bike that was made for riding (like a dyna glide low rider)

A ****load of choppers ARE built for riding, look at easy rider.

I imagine you're talking about show choppers not being built for riding, 'cause yeah, they just built for the show, they look terribly uncomfortable.

Old skool choppers are great to ride though

I've heard the Easy Rider bike was terribly uncomfortable to ride...

Really?

Well i was only using that as an example that bikes should be built to go long distances.

Look at bikes built by indian larry, i'd love to ride one of them

We have about 35 counting my dads bikes to. We have a few harleys, old triumphs, BSA's, honda's, Suzuki's, and a couple mopeds.

Where I'm from, Chopper is a slang term for penis.

Thus, I was disappointed when I discovered Maccas "Chopper" thread, contain no pork at all.

Pooping is well good though, to be fair.

I love motorbikes, specifically low rider bikes. However, most choppers look horribly uncomfortable and a little bit silly. I'd much rather ride a normal cruiser, (HD Fatboy or Shovelhead).

In fact I'm getting my license this summer in Scotland. I'll be restricted to low powered bikes for 2 years so I'll probably be getting a used Honda VT 125 Shadow, then once I can afford one I'll try and find a nice powerful cruiser (maybe a 750 Shadow, or, if I can find a cheap one I'd splash out and get a Harley).

I have one question though and it seems this might be the best place to ask it. The Honda 125 Shadow is a learner legal bike because it's 125cc, but once I've passed my test I can ride a bike up to 33 BHP. The Shadow is 15 BHP. Is it easy to get any upgrades, or get it slightly tuned so I can maybe squeeze another few BHP out of it?
