ive been looking around for a while for a good metal amp in the price range of $300-$700
the randall is solid state with one 12at7 in the preamp section
the crate is all solid state but i hear it has a balsy metal tone
im not sure about the carvin but its all tube for a decent price
the bugera is just a 6505+ copy so it should be nice

Presuming you can find one for $700, maybe. The Mesa's your going to find at that price point will probably be a bunch of late production Mk 1's and won't come close to the gain generally required for modern metal.
ESP LTD EC-256 and a Fender Deluxe VM

What's so good about the Bugeras? I have played through Crates and they do sounds pretty sweet. You can get a tube head without selling your house.

How come none of the stores carry a krank? I want to play it and see if it really lives up to the hype

i could get a combo but (i know i sound like a douche) a stack looks way cooler than a combo
#8
has anyone tried the carvin?
i know their v3 series is tight but its twice the cost

Hype? I heard bad things about Kranks - they're a bit of a one trick pony...
^^ And a combo is more practical, you never really need a halfstack. Im not sure how much they go for, but look for a used 5150 combo perhaps?
