hi guys. was wondering.. what does that "." beside the crochet means? the time signature is a 4/4

and also.. the measure consists of 2 crotchet and 4 semi quavers right? so the 2 semi quavers... isit equal the 1/2 beat each? because 4 semiquavers together is equal to 1 beat.. just wanna confirm. time signature is also 4/4

thanks in advance!

it's called a dotted note
It adds an extra half value of the note onto what the orignal note value was.

What 'Seljer' said "it means "make the note last 50% longer"
so if a crotchet is long for 2 quavers
a dotted crotched is long for 3 quavers"
