i like bands such as Lamb of god, shadows fall, slipknot, BFMV, metallica, megadeth, anthrax, slayer, Children of Bodom, dethklok and amon amarth... do any of these bands use the 23rd and 24frd fret?

Uh... Probably not. Bodom and Amon Amarth probably use them. If you need to get that 24 fret range, just bend the string up 2 steps instead of one.

People always say that you can simply bend the strings on a 22 fret guitar up the 2 semitones to cover the ground of a 24 fret guitar. And in theory you can, but actually implementing it with speed and accuracy is far from easy. If you think you will actually use the frets, I'd just advise that you get a guitar with the 24 frets
