would the dallas arbiter fuzz face give me a different type of overdrive from that of the ibanez ts808 that i currently have?

also, does this thing only run on batteries? and does anybody have any opinions on the pedal?

It's definitely different. The stock one is not very good. The hendrix reissue is much better. There are other fuzz face clones that are improvements as well- what's your price range?
The dunlop ones only run on batteries, but there are of course ways around that.

well its is not an overdrive pedal, it a fuzz pedal and a bad one at that

Very different, bright and fizzy compared to the Tubescreamers smoother warmth. The reissues aren't all that great so go and try a few fuzzes out to see if there's anything you like.

my budget is pretty much anything under 200. does anyone have any fuzz pedals that they'd like to suggest?

Depends on what you want.

The Fulltone '70 is nice if you want a silicon fuzz. That's going to be a bit more aggressive and spitty, as opposed to a germanium fuzz which is going to be smoother and more raspy in tonality.

Some guitarists that used germanium fuzzes were Hendrix (on his first and second albums) and Clapton in Cream. Silicon fuzz users would be Hendrix (during band of gypsies) and David Gilmour on the first few floyd albums (up to wish you were here).

Roger Mayer Classic Fuzz if you're after a germanium Fuzz Face. It IS the Fuzz Face.

If you want silicon, you could always go for a Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz.
