I have to sell my Synyster Custom to pay bills but fortunatly i think ill have enough to purcahse an epiphone les paul custom afterwards (you can usually pick up a slightly beat up one for like 300 on ebay), and im thinking about trying a little buzzsaw meets truckster thing going on, cause i love orange, and i love relic'd guitars. Now my question is, will i be able to take the gloss off the original finish so i can start painting on top of the black? and with what? cause i want to leave the black, i just want the gloss off. . .

Yeah, take some light sandpaper over the finish, scuff it up.

Then you'll be good to go.
