What do you guys think about blem guitars?

Would you buy one?

They seem like good deals, but musicians friend doesn't actually show what's wrong with the guitar.
#2
depends on what you want to use the guitar for. a practice guitar should be fine
#3
I think that the blems are only very minor smudges. And if its too damaged, you can always send it back.

How bad do you think that "Minor scratches" would be?

i ordered my Ep Les Paul standard in black as a blem. as far as i could tell, i found NOTHING wrong with it. i have yet to find a scratch, ding, or blemish.

a blem should probably not hinder the performance i wouldnt think......... i would take it 2 mean a cosmetic flaw with the instrument....... maybe a bung paint job or a chip out somewhere......... dont quote me on that tho =p

blems are generally a really good buy.

sometimes a scratch, never anything that should effect the sound, and if you hate it, you return it on their dime.

It gets addicting looking around online for blem deals

Usually as Jen said it's just a super tiny scratch so your saving big bucks on a good guitar.
#11
Awesome, then I think I may grab one while I can. Saving money is a wonderful thing!

For sure

Sometimes you can get 50-100 off

I found 300 off a guitar that I really want

yea used guitars are a good choice too. I got my ESP LTD H-1000 used for like $400 and I've had it for like 2 years and it hasn't had any issues. Make sure your Pot's don't crackle if you do buy a used one. Blem's are like everyone has said so far a guitar with a minor cosmetic flaw not allowing it to be sold as "New" b/c some people are super obsessive (and they've got the right to be when they pay $XXX). Blems range from a chip in the headstock, to a few body scratches to screwed up paint or screwed up inlays. A upper scale guitar Blem would probably have less cosmetically wrong with it than lower priced ones. Plus even if it's for gigging no one is going to see it. Hell the guitar Herman Li uses in photo shoots is beat to hell on the headstock, but no one cares cause it's Herman Li.

Wow really?

Yep, I think I'm going to order it tmr afternoon. As long as somebody else doesn't get it before me.

Guitars that are pristine and used as a demo are marked as "blem", too. They could just be covered in fingerprints; no scratches.

Half the time, they'll come with a decent setup.
Sincerely, Chad.

Someone I know ordered a blem guitar off Musicians Friend and we couldn't find anything wrong with it at all.

Also my guitar center had a 2008 American Standard Strat with a dent in the side for under $700. I was going to get it but someone else did before me .
