Hey all, I just got my tube amp not but a yesterday and I'm not getting out as kick ass screams (pinch harmonics) as I used to, should I swap my stock pickups for some higher output ones, possibly even active pickups?

pinch harmonics are all skill. You dont need lots of distortion or high output pickups. You can do them on a clean setting...even acoustic guitars.

^What he said. Lots of practice, and you can pull them off without a pick
(I can anyway)

I see, well this leads me to the question, why could I pull them off great before but they sound weaker with is amp? Is it because I went from SS to tube and I need to adjust or what?

It's possible you're cutting some frequences, making the harmonics not come out as good, with how you're EQing it. If so, I'd just try playing with the EQ really, how much distortion you add, etc isn't going to make it easier, it's a skill as people said, but how it's set could contribute to why you can't hear it through the amp.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Im not entirely sure, you are probably cutting something like said above. But when I played on a tube amp, they sounded more clean and crisp than ever.
