ok, i dont know if this is even possible, but i thought it would be cool to replace one of my tone knobs with a knob that, when you turn it, can select different effects. i got the idea from my friends amp, which has a knob just like that on it. so if anybody knows anything about this, could you please help?

rotary switch. bloody hard to wire correctly, I've heard. plus your guitar will become semi hollow body adding **** loads of built in effects.
GEAR:
Epiphone LP special model 2 (Heavily modded - killswitch and custom midi X-Y touch pad).
Digitech Whammy, Zvex Fuzz Factory, Boss Dynamic Wah, Electro harmonix Little Big Muff, Zoom G7.1ut, Digitech Grunge, Korg KP2.
Marshall AVT 50x

I've got a special knob right here for you...

Anyways, it's possible, but will likely be very expensive and will require extensive modification to your guitar. You're better off getting a multi-FX floorboard

You'd have to get Variax board, and install it into your guitar. It's not only about the knob, it is a whole complicated system. Not to mention that the only way you could get the Variax hardware is to buy an actual Variax, get the board outta the guitar and then install it in your guitar.

All in all - it's not worth bothering.

EDIT: I've just checked your profile, you have Gibson Robot Les Paul already, why to get another guitar which changes it's tuning by itself?

Something like that has been done. You can buy EQs or fuzz/distortion boards to go in your guitar. Unfortunately, most of them aren't very good.

More complicated things like reverb/echo or flanger haven't been made because they would take larger boards and have too many controls to be practical on a guitar.
