Went over to my friends and played this and I thought it played incredibly smooth and had great tone but how durable is it? I've heard bad things about X-series Martins falling apart.

Please don't tell me I'm the only one that clicked this thread thinking I would learn how to make my guitar sound like a grizzly bear.

^that only happens when you live someplace like seattle where it's very humid and wet one day and then very dry the next.

If you can't keep the guitar in a humidity controlled enviroment (around 40 to 50%) then the guitar will start to bubble and then later it'll start to peel. It takes a couple years but it does happen. It happens faster in warmer humid areas but it'll still happen in cooler places like seattle. So if you like the guitar and you have a humidity controlled room then go ahead and get it. If you don't have a humidity controlled room, I suggest you stay away.

I've got one. It is a very smooth playing guitar. Take good care of it and transport it in a case and it should be fine. Those people who say they fall apart on you probably don't humidify it properly.

It's made of cardboard. Avoid it like the plague.

Just do a search on here for the DX1 or anything related to the X series. It'll tell you all you want to know.
Sincerely, Chad.

ive had mine 2 months now, and love it. well worth the money.

just replaced the stock martin strings with elixirs and i have to say i'm disappointed, the elixirs feel greasy and they sound very flat

but the guitar is great. great projection, the neck plays incredibly smooth.

The greatest blasphemy known to man would be to put a bone nut, saddle, and set of pins on one of these abominations. Like a spoiler on a Neon.
Sincerely, Chad.

It's more that they don't de-humidify it properly.

Like its been said, if you don't take care of it, it will fall apart. Take good care of it and its a decent sound guitar, good playability. I've played a lot on one, and like it. Not as much as my alvarez, but still good. You just need to make sure its taken care of.
