i need a good guitar for metal i play in a death metal/ hardcore band so i will be using drop tunings only as far as C, playing stuff between architects and job for a cowboy my older influences are nile and cephalic carnage. i have been playing for about 2 and a half years and i want to improvement form my shabby ibanez grg. i have been looking at the bc rich nj deluxe and the ibanez xiphos and the ibanez RGT6EX so something with similar features would be good although i don't care about locking trems or wacky body shapes.

thanks.

no locking trems are horrible for drop tunings.

maybe try an explorer or any b.c rich with a fixed trem

haha yeah right. Locking trems are good for anything, as long as you set up it properly.
The Xiphos is cool, but it has the Edge III trem, which lots of people say sucks. Maybe get the 7 string Xiphos, or a schecter c-1.

Shop round..I got an Epiphone les Paul Custom in black sunburst with EMG 81 and 85 set in it for £300...it sounds and plays amazing.....

That was from sound control...(the music store)

So I recommend a customised Epiphone, an ESP LETD EC style thing or such like. Try and buy second hand you should get a much better guitar for your money...
This is a lie...no reason why...right from the outset

For drop tunings, you might want to stay away from tremolos for the sake of simplicity. Have you considered a 7-string? I'd check out some of the Ibanez RGT models, Schechter might fit you as well, and ESP has a lot of options.
I'm a communist. Really.

Lol, grab yourself a Dean ML79, with Trem, 600 dollars, without like 400 or something, but you might not like the Braziliaburst finish, it comes in black though too.

Schecters are good for that kinda stuff
The Mitch Clem formula
1)make jokes about rancid and NOFX (as if they dont already make fun of themselves)
2)make obvious punk puns, possibly related to food
3)make fun of Rancid and NOFX again
4)??????
5)PROFIT (and an army of internet fanboys)
