The worst movie thread reminded me...what are some movies that you saw on a whim and turned out to be fantastic, or at least better than expected?

For me:

SLC Punk (my favorite movie ever, ironically)
Heaven

sweeney todd, it thought it would be boring, but I found it extremely funny
A message to all readers: I’m a cynical, satirical, sadistic, heartless, sardonic, mocking, demotivating, derisive, scathing, contemptuous, disdainful, scornful and condescending guy. And I love it.

I Am Legend, hadn't heard like a good thing about it, but turned out to be one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Mommas Boy.

I thought it was going to be one of those movies that has the stupid pop culture related jokes and unintelligent lines that were directed towards a more family environment.

Tool, anyone?
Alter Bridge, maybe?
A bit of John Mayer?
Some beethoven sounds delightful, as well.

I agree, great acting in my opinion.
plus, the Imax might have had something to do with it.

I was expecting Borat and Superbad to suck hard ass, but I thought they were really funny in the end.

Yeah Rambo was unexpected awesome^

I'd have to say The Rock and The Rundown.

I was sort-of pleasantly surprised at Semi-Pro.

I knew it would be at least watchable since it had Will Ferrell in it, but it was actually good even beyond that fact.

I'm not saying it was Oscar-worthy or anything. But it was at least enjoyable.

Hotel Rwanda

I was expecting a bore-fest but it was suprisingly good and emotional.
#34
Casino Royale, I had no interest in ever seeing it but my whole english has just been forced to watch bits of it for coursework and I was quite impressed.
Donnie Darko, my dad told me to watch it because he though I might like it and I love it!
