Hey, I have a gig in a couple months and I'm working with this other girl. Its only a one song deal.

We were orginally going to do Into the Night, but it is too low and another octave higher doesn't sound right.

So my question is, are there any easy acoustic songs that a female singer could sing?

And no to anything by flyleaf, we tryed that and we couldnt get the right sound.

Quite slow though =/

I was gonna suggest something by Muse, not a female singer but as good as really

Between the Bars, originally done by Elliot Smith.

On youtube their's a cover of it done by that girl from Metric. Beautiful song.

Anything by The Cranberries, but she's gotta have a cracking voice - Zombie would be my pick. Crazy by Gnarls Barkley sound awesome acoustic with a female singer. Alanis Morisette is always an option to. Or my maybe fast car by Tracy Chapman, thats an awesome song.

A guy and girl did a cover of "Taylor" by Jack Johnson at my high school a few years back and it sounded pretty good (girl sang. guy played guitar).. the guitar part is also challenging enough that you won't be bored out of your mind. Apart from that, you could also try "Such Great Heights" (the Iron & Wine version), "Happy" by Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins, or I suppose "Hands Clean" by Alanis Morrisette is also an option.

"Crazy on You" - Heart.

Good idea, except that is one hard ****ing song.

Dude, a chick could sing any song, at least acoustic, if she got the voice.

Play "Into the Night" . . . with a capo!

Don't get stuck in "Acoustic," and "Female singer," just play any song you want. If the key doesn't work, then change it. If there's more than one guitar part, then combine them!

You gotta work that out with your singer. Put it on like the 3rd or 5th to start off, and if that's too low, then put it higher! Simple, no?

I play "Barracuda" acoustic all the time. I think there's a version of Tenacious D doing it on Limewire, too.

You know.. girls can sing a song by a guy ..

I sing Metric all the time, and even some Tegan and Sara, although I don't think their music is the kind you just bust out anywhere . . .
