I current have a Mexican strat and I want to play some Slash.. so should I get a humbucker single coil for it or get an Epiphone Les Paul Standard?

New or used?

get a modded jcm800
/thread

you could play slash type stuff with either guitar, amps have a bigger effect on your tone than guitars.

you don't need a new guitar to play some heavier stuff. Your strat will be fine. If u truly insist then put in a new pup but dont buy a new guitar

Now officially has too much gear to list

Jesus, when I feel like playing Van Halen, I don't go out and buy his 5150 III. Work on playing the Slash licks first, then when you're ready, go buy the gear.
Be cool.

Just play it doesnt need to sound exactly like it. To sound just like him gear wise would take a serious outlay of cash.

Alright, so then.. which amp should I get for distortion?

Dude, your amp is fine. You don't need any gear. Just work on your actual guitar playing, and stop looking for new stuff to purchase that you don't need/won't use to its full potential. Not to sound rude, but I'd assume you probably aren't good enough for a JCM 800.
Be cool.

Well some guy before said that my amp is a good CLEAN amp.

I own the same amp as you. The Vox not only does good cleans, it is also very good at rock and blues, and even metal if you tweak it enough. It'll do what you need it do do, which in this case is to play some Slash riffs. The guy above has no clue. If you are just practicing in your bedroom, or doing small gigs, the Vox is a more than decent amp. You sure as hell don't need a halfstack unless you are doing serious gigging. As I stated before, just worry about your guitar playing, and stop nitpicking.
Be cool.
